After high school, I attended college
at what was then Stout State
College with fellow classmates Jeanette Emerson and Diane Anderson.
After college, I spent 22 years in the
semiconductor industry first as a Product Marketing Specialist for Motorola
Semiconductor in Phoenix and later in California with AMD and Intel as a
Regional Marketing Director, I was able to retire in 1991 thanks to Intel.
I embarked on my second career by
moving from Burnsville to Menomonie, Wisconsin – Stout. I later taught in
their School of Engineering before moving on to another college in
Appleton, WI and eventually in 1995 assuming the Vice President’s position
at Saint Paul College – a community & technical college and member of the
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System.
I am married and have two grown children – Nichole and Steven. We live in
Hudson to be closer to our boat on the St. Croix River and have lived in
Wisconsin since 1991. The last MHS reunion I attended was in 1983. I was
out of the country when the last reunion was held.
Three people had a great influence in
my life and one of those was
Martin (Marty) Thames our infamous chemistry teacher. He always had a sense
of humor and told really bad jokes! Bruce Triden and I were chemistry lab
assistants for Marty. Marty went to the Sudan with my cousin and her
husband to setup a school through a federal grant administered by Dunwoody.
They had to run for their lives in 1967 when the civil war erupted leaving
most of their belongings behind. Marty still lives in Hopkins and it would
be great to invite him to the reunion.
